Propane is taxed per gallon, hydrogen is taxed per kilogram, and all other alternative fuels are taxed using the gasoline-gallon equivalency from DOE's current fuel-properties chart, multiplied by Montana's gasoline tax rate. Electric vehicles (EVs), EV charging infrastructure, and EV technicians must also comply with the rules and regulations of this Act, which requires technician certification and adopts statewide codes and standards for EV charge stations and alternative fuel systems.
